Indonesian Cuisine is one of Asia's most diverse cuisines—the archipelago's approximately 17,000 islands are home to hundreds of regional traditions. It is characterised by boldly flavoured spice pastes (bumbu), coconut milk, soy sauce, tamarind, and chilli. Typical dishes include nasi goreng (fried rice), satay (skewers often served with peanut sauce), rendang (meat slow-cooked in coconut milk), and gado-gado (vegetable salad with peanut dressing).
