Cereal Grains (cereals) are grasses cultivated for their edible seeds—wheat, rye, barley, oats, maize, rice, millet, sorghum, and buckwheat (botanically not a cereal, but grouped here in culinary use). Cereal grains are a foundation of the human diet—they are used to make flour, bread, pasta, porridge, beer, and whisky. They contain carbohydrates, protein, fibre, and B vitamins.
